WHO WE ARE
The Time & Tide Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) Area is a nonprofit organization that provides a valuable service for individuals who are interested in pursuing a grassroots project within Androscoggin, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc and Waldo Counties in the state of Maine.

The Time & Tide RC&D organization is comprised of volunteers who form the Time & Tide Council and who have a passion for enhancing their local community and improving its quality of life. The Council strives to wisely conserve, improve, and develop regional natural resources in a manner that will preserve the beauty of Maine for future generations while simultaneously recognizing economic growth opportunities.

The RC&D Program was established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and is managed by the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). The RC&D Program provides a means to coordinate the many federal, state, and local programs that are available to help support grassroots efforts in the areas of conservation and economic development.
In order for a region to become an RC&D Area, it must receive official Congressional authorization. Through the support of various County Commissioners, Soil & Water Conservation Districts, and concerned local citizens who rallied together to petition Congress, Time & Tide received Congressional authorization on April 12, 1974 thus becoming one of 375 RC&D Areas nationwide.
The Time & Tide RC&D Area organization helps people with grassroots efforts to generate and succeed with projects in the areas of sustainable agriculture/ aquaculture/forestry as well as natural resource conservation and small scale economic development and alternative energy development opportunities.
Time & Tide assists folks by providing technical assistance; expertise and support in grant writing and procurement; public outreach; and through finding other avenues of support through our vast association with other agencies and organizations.
Projects are initiated, sponsored, planned and implemented at the local level by individuals.
HOW WE CAN HELP YOU
For information concerning how we can help you with your project, please refer to our Services page.
Our vision is to promote "Vibrant sustainable communities with productive fields, forests and shores through inspired local leadership."
Time & Tide RC&D is a grassroots nonprofit organization that identifies and seeks resources to address area conservation and development priorities. The RC&D Program is based on the philosophy that local people, provided with information as well as technical and occasional financial assistance, can best develop and carry out an action-oriented resource conservation and development plan for the enhancement of their area.
